Shivneri fort (1018 m) : The fortress was the birth place of Shivaji (1627 - 1680), the great Maratha warrier king. The fort is 3 km from Junnar. It has a huge arch at the entrance and well preserved fortifications. The route to top leads via series of entrances. The gates in the fort increses the security. It rises from a three cornered base of about 250 m from the plains and looks over the town of Junnar.
